Organized and dependable candidate successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude. Willingness to take on added responsibilities to meet team goals.
Currently I am looking to transition into a new career in IT, specifically in the field of a data centre technician or a similar role. I have enjoyed learning about and fixing computers since I was a teenager. I built my first PC when I was about 18, it was the first time I could afford one of my own.
I am also studying Comptia A+ as well as learning about computer networks.
I am reading and studying about Network Layers currently. I have so far learned about the older standard Network model type, OSI (Open systems Interconnection) which has 7 layers. I’m trying my best to remember all of them but someone suggested a mnemonic to help “All People Seem To Need Data Processing”.
I have started learning more about the more modern Network model, TCP/IP. This is a more concise and seems more efficient system (at the moment of reading) and the mnemonic for it would be “Armadillos Take In New Ants”. I’m not sure why but it’s quite memorable as its quite random to me.
As for Comptia a+, I am studying Mike Meyers study guide for the A+ exam which I want to take in the near future. I have finished chapter 14 currently which was about maintaining and optimising operating systems and I’m now on chapter 15 which is about using command lines and command prompts. I’m not sure who remembers anymore but we used to have to type commands in to load old cassette tapes on our old commodore computer back in the late 80s! It’s nostalgic and fun to learn about computers, servers, networks and how they all function now as compared to when I was young.
I like being hands on and I enjoy working alone or in a team. I know that I don’t have a lot of experience in the field but I am more than willing to learn on my own and if given an opportunity I would love to prove myself to the company.
