Shoya Suzuki

In my seminar focused on American literature, I research the intersection of literary genres, modernity, and physical expression in American poetry, particularly examining Walt Whitman's works. My analysis centers on interpreting the unique sensibilities conveyed through bodily expressions and exploring the enduring themes of democracy and humanity in American literary traditions. I believe such studies contribute significantly to deeper intercultural understanding in contemporary society, and I remain committed to ongoing research driven by curiosity and a broad perspective.

My strengths lie in leadership cultivated across diverse environments, adaptability, and a willingness to embrace new challenges. As a baseball team captain in elementary school, I effectively managed diverse personalities to achieve teamwork. In middle school, as student council president, I mediated differing opinions to reach consensus-based solutions. During high school, leading an esports team, I enhanced team cohesion through strategic planning and improved communication. At university, rather than emphasizing positional leadership, I energized teams through proactive engagement and innovative ideas.

Additionally, I have actively pursued self-improvement in English proficiency and independently acquired skills in programming, web, native app, and game development. Moving forward, I aim to leverage my interdisciplinary experiences and IT skills to foster effective collaboration within organizations, driving innovation and operational efficiency.

[Strength]
My strength is my ability to break through stagnation. During meetings of the university festival committee and group work in classes, I consistently took the initiative to speak first—even if my points diverged slightly from the main topic—or asked questions proactively when something was unclear. This helped break the silence and create an atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable contributing openly.

[Weakness]
My weakness has been a tendency to tackle issues independently. When I identified solutions to problems, I often pursued them alone rather than relying on others. However, through various experiences, I've learned to maintain my proactive drive while effectively collaborating with others, ultimately achieving greater results. I now aim to leverage this combined strength and personal growth in team-oriented projects.
