I am interested in a part-time position at Saint Maur teaching students how to learn the skills of design, woodwork and project completion.
I am capable of working on multiple projects which require careful time management, attention to detail and modelling for students these hands-on skills.
I have extensive experience creating projects using limited supplies and equipment that can still be impressive and enhance other disciplines such as mathematics, art and team work.
In this company, my main role is the construction of playgrounds, picnic tables and benches in non-for-profit venues such as orphanages and care facilities for children. Each build, includes teaching and supporting volunteers, as well as the children from the venue, who mostly have little or no woodworking and construction experience how to finalise projects. This includes giving specific instructions and supervising the use of power tools and materials.
As well as constructing, I have designed new models of tables and benches as well as the how-to manuals that are easily accessible for volunteers with no construction experience and often, who speak English as a second language.
Caring for materials, stocktaking and regular maintenance are also part of the process.
