In my role, I investigate the immunologic effects of combining photodynamic therapy (PDT) using the photosensitizer talaporfin with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) in cancer treatment. My research focuses on understanding how Tal-PDT induces systemic antitumor immunity, including the abscopal effect and the generation of tumor-specific CD8+ T cells, leading to enhanced cancer immunotherapy. I provide key insights into the mechanisms of PDT-induced tumor cell ferroptosis and its potential for clinical application in combined cancer therapies.
