Work History

Research Fellow

Center for Cancer Immunotherapy and Immunobiology
Kyoto, Kyoto
04.2024 - 12.2024

In my role, I investigate the immunologic effects of combining photodynamic therapy (PDT) using the photosensitizer talaporfin with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) in cancer treatment. My research focuses on understanding how Tal-PDT induces systemic antitumor immunity, including the abscopal effect and the generation of tumor-specific CD8+ T cells, leading to enhanced cancer immunotherapy. I provide key insights into the mechanisms of PDT-induced tumor cell ferroptosis and its potential for clinical application in combined cancer therapies.

PhD Student

Department of Immunology and Genomic Medicine
04.2020 - 04.2024
  • In my PhD, I worked on two key projects. The first involved investigating how long-term anti-tumor CD8+ T cells memory responses are formed in a tumor mouse model and exploring ways to modulate these responses using immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) treatment(Not Published yet). In the second project, I studied the immunologic effects of combining photodynamic therapy (PDT) with ICB, focusing on systemic antitumor immunity and its mechanisms, including tumor-specific CD8+ T cells and ferroptosis-induced tumor cell death (Under review).

Physician

Daoud Research Group
01.2017 - 01.2020
  • As a physician at Daoud Charity Clinic (DCC) in Banat, I provided free neurological evaluations and care to patients, collaborating with volunteers, medical students, and other doctors. My role involved assessing and managing neurological conditions, offering medical advice, and ensuring patients received necessary medications and transportation assistance. The clinic attracted patients from across Sudan, providing vital healthcare services to those in need.

Teaching Assistant at Department of Pharmacology

University of Khartoum, Faculty of Medicine
01.2018 - 10.2019
  • Helped with grading assignments and tests, providing constructive feedback to students based on results.
  • Supported classroom activities, tutoring, and reviewing work.
  • Worked with teacher to optimize learning plans based on student test grades and evaluations.
  • Completed daily reports on attendance and disciplinary performance.
