高校を卒業した後、小さな会社に就職しました。もし英語が話せれば外資系の企業で働くチャンスができると考え、英字新聞を読んだり映画を見たり、イギリス、オーストラリア、アメリカの発音や表情を鏡の前で練習したりしていました。その後、マイクロソフトに関係する企業に応募しましたが企業が求める英語力には足りていないという理由で2回も面接で不合格になってしまいました。とても悔しかった私は、英語が得意な友達をつくり英語環境を増やしました。半年後、また同じ会社の面接を受けました。「２回も面接に不合格になったのに、それほどうちの会社に入りたいのはどうしてですか」と、同じオーストラリアの面接官が私のことを覚えていました。英語力の伸びと、モチベーションの高さが評価され、結果は合格でした。この経験から、すぐに諦めないことがどんなに大切か学びました。どんな経験でも必ず役に立ちます。次は、日本の社会人になるという夢に向かって挑戦し続けていきたいです。
